On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the blue hall of the ONAMA building in N’Djamena hosted a landmark event: the unveiling of « The Evolution of Parliamentary Life in Chad (1960–2020)», a meticulously researched book by former National Assembly deputy Issa Hassana Adoum.

Spanning 612 pages and structured across five thematic chapters, this publication offers a comprehensive and unbiased account of Chad’s parliamentary journey since gaining independence in 1960. It examines institutional transformations, political milestones, persistent challenges, and key achievements that have shaped the nation’s governance landscape over six transformative decades.

In his remarks, Dr. Adoum emphasized that the book represents a vital scholarly contribution to understanding Chad’s political and constitutional evolution. He described it as an essential resource for academics, students, policymakers, and future generations seeking to grasp the complexities of the country’s democratic institutions.

The author shared that the book originated from his doctoral thesis, later refined and expanded into its current form. Notably, the entire manuscript is written in Arabic, a choice that sparked discussions during the event.

Attendees, including prominent officials and intellectuals, strongly advocated for a full French translation. They highlighted the need to make this analytical work accessible to a broader audience of researchers, scholars, and readers interested in Chad’s parliamentary history.

The ceremony concluded with an interactive book-signing session, where Dr. Adoum personally inscribed copies for attendees.
