In a significant engagement at the Palais Rénovation, Gabon’s Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, convened with Libreville’s Mayor, Eugène Mba. This was their second official meeting since April 28, aimed at evaluating the progress of local governance initiatives and fostering stronger collaboration between national authorities and municipal leadership.
The Mayor presented a comprehensive progress report on his mandate, which began on April 24. He outlined key structural changes within the city hall’s hierarchy and detailed strategic plans for Libreville’s future. Among the priorities discussed were urban revitalization projects, modern parking infrastructure, green and botanical space expansion, combating illegal public land occupation, and strengthening neighborhood-level facilities. Additionally, the digitalization of municipal services was highlighted as a critical step forward.
The President underscored the urgent need to enhance urban cleanliness, emphasizing sanitation as a top priority. He stressed that improving household waste collection systems would be essential to achieving this goal. With a vision of a progressive and appealing Gabon, Oligui Nguema reiterated that Libreville, as the nation’s showcase, must meet global standards in urban planning, local governance, and public service excellence. He urged Eugène Mba to uphold high standards of discipline, innovation, and efficiency in executing the outlined projects.
