Exactly one year after their triumph in Munich, Paris Saint-Germain once again etched their name into European football history by overcoming Arsenal in a nail-biting final decided by penalties.

The thrilling finale

The match started disastrously for PSG as Arsenal struck just five minutes into the game, leaving the French side stunned. Trailing at halftime, the Parisians fought back with a stunning equalizer in the 64th minute—Ousmane Dembélé, France’s Ballon d’Or winner, converted a penalty with precision.

The tension never relented. Neither 90 minutes nor 30 minutes of extra time could separate the two teams. It was only when the shootout began that PSG’s resilience shone through, securing their second consecutive Champions League title.

A legendary achievement

By claiming back-to-back titles, PSG joins an elite club—previously only Real Madrid, under Zinedine Zidane’s guidance, had achieved this feat in the modern era of the competition, even going on to win three consecutive titles from 2016 to 2018.

Preparing for the World Cup

With six French internationals involved in this 71st Champions League final—Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembélé from PSG, along with William Saliba from Arsenal—the stage is set for them to rejoin the Équipe de France at Clairefontaine for World Cup preparations. Their first test comes June 4 in Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire against Côte d’Ivoire.
