sawti: a multilingual digital platform revolutionizing political information in Morocco

Sawti platform interface

Morocco now has a powerful new tool to bridge the gap between citizens and political information: sawti. This innovative, non-profit digital platform, accessible at www.sawti.info, is transforming how Moroccans—both at home and abroad—interact with the country’s political landscape.

The brainchild of two young Moroccan entrepreneurs, Ismaïl Lahlou and Yassine Lahlou Kamal, sawti was created to democratize access to reliable political news and foster greater civic engagement. Designed with inclusivity in mind, the platform targets diverse audiences by offering content in nine languages, including Darija, Modern Standard Arabic, French, English, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and German. Berber (Tamazight) will soon be added to this multilingual lineup.

The platform’s user-friendly interface ensures seamless navigation, allowing users to effortlessly explore a wide range of political content. In a country where political processes can often seem opaque, sawti provides clear, educational materials that break down complex topics such as institutional functions, electoral procedures, and national political dynamics.

One of sawti’s standout features is its electoral services. With the registration deadline set for June 13, the platform enables users to quickly verify their voter registration status or complete their registration online—all within minutes. This timely functionality is especially crucial as Moroccans prepare to participate in upcoming elections.

sawti also caters to Moroccan expatriates by offering guidance on voting procedures from abroad. Looking ahead, the platform plans to introduce an interactive quiz that helps users align their political views with their personal values and societal priorities, further encouraging informed civic participation.

By making political information more accessible and engaging, sawti is not just a digital platform—it’s a catalyst for a more informed and active Moroccan society.
