Unesco Mali joins the launch of the 27th environment fortnight in Bamako
The UNESCO office in Mali participated in the official launch ceremony of the 27th Environment Fortnight, held in Bamako on Saturday, 6 June 2026. The organisation’s delegation was led by its representative, Mr Ali Mohamed Sinane.
The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr Alousséni Sanou, representing the Prime Minister. It brought together several government members, environment ministers from the AES Confederation of States (Burkina Faso and Niger), as well as representatives from national institutions, technical and financial partners, civil society, the private sector, and the media.
This 27th edition aims to consolidate national projects and boost public understanding of resource preservation and sustainable environmental methods.
Scheduled from 5 to 15 June 2026, the fortnight focuses on two primary subjects:
‘Climate crisis and solutions for a safer, more resilient, and sustainable future’, in connection with World Environment Day;
‘Pastures: recognise, respect, restore’, referencing the International Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.
By taking part, UNESCO reaffirms its commitment alongside the Malian government to enhance awareness, promote sound environmental practices, and support concrete actions for sustainable and resilient development.
