Algeria and Chad have inked a landmark agreement in N’Djamena to fast-track infrastructure projects, focusing on public works and foundational development.
This deal is part of a broader push to deepen bilateral ties and expedite the implementation of agreements finalized in April, as confirmed by the Algerian Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure.
Trans-Saharan highway project studies kick off in Chad
The agreement was formalized by Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Road Unlocking, and Maintenance, Amir Idriss Kourda, during a coordination meeting in N’Djamena. The session, held on the second day of Algeria’s working visit to Chad, included key figures such as the Director-General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Algeria’s Ambassador to Chad, and representatives from the Cosider Group and the National Company of Public Works (SNTP).
On the Chadian side, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and senior officials. The Chadian minister highlighted the « rapid momentum » in executing the bilateral agreements, praising the tangible progress since the April 22 accords were signed in Algiers. This includes reciprocal technical visits and the initiation of feasibility studies for the trans-Saharan highway project traversing Chadian territory.
