On behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb embarked on an official visit to the Republic of Chad this Monday, a trip aimed at strengthening fraternal ties and deepening cooperation and partnership between the two nations, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
The prime minister is accompanied by State Minister and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal, and the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Abed Hallouz, along with several executives from national companies operating in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors.
Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the prime minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart, head of government Allamaye Halina, accompanied by several members of the Chadian government and senior officials.
Following the welcome ceremony, the prime minister and his Chadian counterpart held a bilateral working session where they reviewed the progress of the distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad, and exchanged views on ways to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and broaden its scope. This reflects the shared will of the two countries’ leaders to elevate fraternal and cooperative ties to broader horizons, serving the common interests of both brotherly peoples.
Groundbreaking for a 40-megawatt power plant in N’Djamena
As part of this visit, the prime minister, alongside his Chadian counterpart, will preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for an Algerian-Chadian solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena, with a capacity of 40 megawatts.
This project will be implemented by Sonelgaz International as a donation from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to sisterly Chad, in line with President Tebboune’s directives and in renewal of Algeria’s steadfast commitment to supporting sustainable development processes in brotherly African countries, while consolidating values of African solidarity and cooperation through structural projects with a direct impact on economic and social development.
The prime minister will also hold consultations with the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, focusing on prospects for strengthening the Algerian-Chadian partnership, as well as key regional and African issues of mutual interest.
This visit to Chad comes within the positive and growing momentum in Algerian-Chadian relations, embodying the joint will of the two countries’ leaders to raise bilateral cooperation to higher levels and enhance economic and development partnership.
