Benin’s President Romuald Wadagni arrives in Lomé for key bilateral talks
As part of a wider regional engagement, President Romuald Wadagni of Bénin touched down in Lomé this week for a high-level working visit aimed at deepening the strategic partnership between Bénin and Togo.
Upon arrival at the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, the visiting leader was greeted by Togo’s Prime Minister Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, marking the start of intensive discussions on shared priorities including regional stability, economic integration and joint development initiatives.
This latest meeting follows a broader diplomatic tour initiated by President Wadagni after his inauguration on 24 May, reinforcing Lomé’s reputation as a pivotal hub for political dialogue and regional cooperation in West Africa.

A formal reception was staged at the airport, bringing together senior officials from both governments, lawmakers, and customary leaders from the Greater Lomé area to honor the visiting delegation.
The agenda goes well beyond protocol—the two neighboring nations are actively advancing collaboration across vital sectors such as trade facilitation, infrastructure development, energy supply, and the unhindered movement of goods and citizens.
