The initial three Senegalese football fans, previously held in Morocco following disturbances during the Coupe d’Afrique des nations (CAN), landed in Dakar this Thursday. Abdoulaye Dieng, Ibrahima Diop, and Aziz Wade touched down at 6:25 PM at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass, where they were met with an emotional and spirited welcome by a large gathering. Their flight was operated by Royal Air Maroc.

These three individuals were among a group of eighteen supporters apprehended during the final match between Senegal and Morocco. They had been convicted by the Rabat Court of Appeal on charges of « hooliganism », which included public order offenses, throwing objects, damaging sports facilities, and assaulting law enforcement officers.

Having completed their three-month prison sentences, the trio was released on April 18. For the fifteen other supporters who remain in Morocco, their appeal-confirmed sentences range from six months to one year of imprisonment. Their eventual return to Senegal will occur in stages, correlating with the completion of their respective terms.
