GEMIA honors new generation of Tchad’s military student cadre
The Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées celebrated the sixth cohort of military student cadres, recognizing top performers in a ceremony attended by high-ranking military and civilian leaders.
N’Djamena, June 4, 2026 – Under skies laden with significance, the Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) hosted a momentous dual ceremony: the commissioning of its sixth military student cadre cohort and the presentation of excellence awards. The event drew the attendance of top military and civilian dignitaries, including General of Division Hisseine Abderamane Haggar and the Second Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Yangmmargue Beh Félix.
The gathering brought together generals, officers, defense attachés from allied nations, the Mayor of N’Djamena, the Sultan of the first arrondissement, as well as parents of current students and alumni. The GEMIA commander took the stage to commend the cohort’s remarkable transformation and resilience during their training.
This sixth cohort, made up of 76 cadets who enrolled on October 6, 2025, underwent an intensive “initiation” phase designed to instill values of brotherhood, camaraderie, and solidarity. “Today, they shed the label of ‘rookies’ to proudly carry the title of military student cadres,” declared the general during his address.
In his speech, he underscored the vision of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, who has consistently emphasized that “the future of Tchad is forged in its schools.” This principle is embodied by the military student cadre school’s motto: “Learn to build better,” built on pillars of honor, discipline, and excellence.
The ceremony also honored the institution’s highest achievers—top students, most exemplary cadets, best performers in academic and physical training. The general congratulated the winners and urged them to sustain their momentum.
Closing his remarks, the GEMIA commander extended a call to partners and the alumni association to elevate the school to national and regional standards. He wished all staff and cadets a refreshing break, while expressing deep gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support in shaping the nation’s future leaders.
