The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) carried out an escort and security operation for civilian vehicles on the Kayes–Sandaré–Diéma–Bamako road corridor from 23 to 29 June 2026. This mission aimed to strengthen security along this strategic axis.
A first detachment of FAMa escorted a convoy of 540 civilian trucks from Kayes to Sandaré. At the same time, a second group left Diéma on 23 June to join the convoy, taking charge of the 540 trucks as well as several vehicles that had been immobilised in Sandaré.
After regrouping at Diéma, the convoy reached a total of 940 civilian trucks. Escorted by FAMa, the convoy passed through Sebabougou, Kwala, Diédiéni, Kolokani and Kati before arriving in Bamako without any major incident.
This operation is part of the ongoing missions of FAMa to secure strategic road corridors, thereby ensuring the protection of road users and the free movement of goods and people across the entire national territory.
