Ousmane Sonko, the leader of Pastef, has firmly urged his supporters to stop using derogatory nicknames and mockery directed at authorities. He denounces such counterproductive behaviour, calling instead for a debate centred exclusively on ideas and the party programme.
Speaking at a rally at Dakar Arena, the head of the Patriotic party appealed to his followers to act responsibly, warning that insults and taunts could be used as legal pretexts leading to imprisonment. He encouraged the youth and party sympathisers to elevate the political discourse by focusing on programmatic proposals and constructive exchanges of ideas.
Setting a new strategic direction, the National Assembly president asked his troops to prioritise grassroots work. He urged them to travel across the entire national territory to broaden and durably reinforce the party’s base. Finally, stressing Pastef’s organisational future, he reminded them of the urgency of strengthening political and intellectual training among activists in order to consolidate the party’s republican anchorage.
