Ligue des champions: le dispositif pour la finale s’affine, il n’y aura pas de parade sur les Champs Élysées en cas de victoire
The evening of May 30th promises to be exceptionally busy across the Parisian region. In addition to the Champions League final, numerous concerts are scheduled, drawing an estimated 150,000 to 200,000 people into the city’s streets for a mix of football, tennis events, and musical performances. This significant influx necessitates the Paris Police Prefecture to implement an extensive security operation across the capital. All indications point to a demanding weekend for internal security forces.
Starting Friday evening at 5 PM, vehicle traffic will be restricted until Sunday morning within a designated security zone. The perimeter established by the Paris Police Prefecture broadly encompasses the 8th arrondissement. More stringent parking prohibitions will be enforced across the entire Champs-Élysées and several adjacent avenues, including Avenue Montaigne. These traffic restrictions also extend to other parts of the capital, such as the 16th and 17th arrondissements. Pedestrian access, however, will remain permitted.
Around the Parc des Princes, where PSG is organizing its fan zone, security forces will deploy a standard match-day arrangement. Last year, this enclosed and secure fan zone proved to be a significant success during the Champions League final celebrations.
champ de mars emerges as potential celebration venue
As in previous seasons, authorities are meticulously planning for all potential scenarios during security meetings. Should PSG emerge victorious on Saturday evening, preparations for Sunday’s celebrations are underway in close coordination with the capital club. It has been confirmed that a celebratory parade on the Champs-Élysées will not take place this year, a decision ultimately announced by the 8th arrondissement mayor. In 2025, similar festivities attracted 110,000 people to the world’s most beautiful avenue. Behind the scenes, the 8th arrondissement town hall had already communicated this message, particularly to local business owners.
A new option is now emerging for potential celebrations: the Champ de Mars, located in the 7th arrondissement. “This option is being seriously considered,” acknowledged a well-informed source, declining to elaborate further. Indeed, it appears to be the preferred choice among all stakeholders. The Paris Police Prefecture intends to request traffic and parking restrictions around the Champ de Mars from Saturday, May 30th, at 10 PM until Sunday, May 31st, at 8 PM, to ensure the smooth execution of a festive event. If this plan is confirmed, following last season’s celebration near the Arc de Triomphe, a victory against Arsenal could see Luis Enrique’s players pose for an iconic photo with the Eiffel Tower. This image is deemed crucial for enhancing France’s and PSG’s international profile, playing a vital role in any post-victory festivities.
When contacted, Paris Saint-Germain stated that the club is currently “fully focused on preparing for the events organized on May 30th, the day of the Final.” Furthermore, they clarified that, at present, “no decision has been made and no announcement is planned” regarding any celebrations after Saturday evening’s match in Hungary. “Should the need arise, organizational matters will be fully coordinated with the relevant authorities,” the capital club affirmed.
