Algeria and Chad formalized a landmark agreement in N’Djamena, marking a significant step toward fast-tracking infrastructure and public works initiatives under their strengthened bilateral partnership. The deal, inked during a high-level working visit, outlines streamlined procedures to accelerate projects agreed upon in April, including critical roadway developments.
The memorandum was signed by Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Desenclavement and Road Maintenance, Amir Idriss Kourda, on the second day of the Algerian delegation’s official visit to Chad’s capital.
Key stakeholders from both nations attended the coordination meeting, including the Director-General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation in Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and representatives from Algeria’s Cosider Group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP). Chad’s delegation included the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and senior technical officials.
Amir Idriss Kourda highlighted the rapid momentum behind bilateral implementation efforts, citing tangible progress since the April 22 agreements were signed in Algiers. He pointed to collaborative field visits and the initiation of feasibility studies for the trans-Saharan highway, which will traverse Chad, as proof of the partnership’s growing efficiency.
