Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo received a delegation from the Inter-African Federation of Insurance Consultants (FIAC) on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. The delegation, led by interim President Vakaramoko Samaké, briefed the head of government on the stakes of the federation’s 16th annual general meeting set for 10-13 June 2026 in Ouagadougou.
Held under the theme “The Role of Insurance Broking in Expanding Access and Improving Penetration Rates,” this major event aims to position brokers as key players in financial inclusion.
The regional gathering will bring together nearly 200 insurance brokers from the 14 member countries of the CIMA zone (Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets), as well as from Guinea Conakry and Ghana. After the audience, the FIAC interim President praised the Prime Minister’s personal commitment in agreeing to sponsor the event.

“We showed him the importance of our profession. Today, insurance brokers contribute to the economic development of our countries and to job creation. This general assembly marks the beginning of the qualitative change we want to achieve. The theme of financial inclusion is a new starting point for supporting our populations through insurance broking,” he explained.
The Prime Minister, for his part, welcomed the choice of the Burkinabè capital to host this 16th edition. He called it “a mark of fraternity” toward the country.
“We have chosen a path that has brought us much stigmatisation and negative stereotypes. We remain confident because the country is making progress in all areas, as evidenced by the macroeconomic indicators,” the Prime Minister said.
He then stressed the relevance of the theme, which is at the heart of the government’s agenda. “Your role is important. Today, insurance is essential in every sector. In rural areas, we now talk about climate insurance. This shows that risks are growing and that a minimum of coverage is needed for our populations,” he emphasised.
Reaffirming the government’s determination to make insurance broking a tool for resilience, the Prime Minister concluded: “Rest assured of our readiness to work alongside you and to take into account the recommendations that come out of your work. I encourage you to stay united and to keep pace with the developments of our time.”
With this audience, the government confirms its commitment to making this sector a key driver of Burkina Faso’s economic renewal and resilience.
