During a high-level meeting in Yaoundé on July 15, 2026, Theodore Datouo, President of Cameroon’s National Assembly, welcomed Ronan Le Gluet, a French Senator representing French citizens abroad and Deputy Chair of the France-Cameroon Friendship Group. The discussions focused on deepening parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.
The session underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Cameroon’s legislative body and France’s Senate, with both leaders emphasizing the role of parliamentary friendship groups in fostering collaboration. Key topics included the welfare of French nationals residing in Cameroon, the upcoming renewal of the French Senate in September 2026, and the exchange of best practices between the two legislative institutions.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to assess progress on projects funded through the Debt Reduction and Development Contract (C2D), particularly in urban development and infrastructure. Additionally, the officials explored potential new areas of cooperation in the economic and healthcare sectors.
