Côte d’Ivoire’s geospatial leader honoured at Africa’s economic builders gala
Abidjan, 20 June 2026 — Dr Edouard Fonh-Gbéi, Director-General of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Committee for Remote Sensing and Geographical Information (CNTIG), was awarded a prestigious honour on Thursday, 18 June 2026, at the Bâtisseurs de l’économie africaine gala in Abidjan. The recognition celebrates his leadership and contributions to advancing geospatial technologies across the continent.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr Fonh-Gbéi emphasized the collective achievement of his team, stating, « This honour belongs to every member of the CNTIG whose dedication, shared vision, and relentless effort have made our mission possible. It is a testament to the power of collaboration and the impact of geoinformation in driving sustainable development. »
Appointed to lead CNTIG in 2012 following an international competitive process, Dr Fonh-Gbéi holds a PhD in civil engineering with a focus on satellite geodesy. With over two decades of international experience, he has positioned the CNTIG at the forefront of Côte d’Ivoire’s digital transformation, leveraging geospatial data to support economic growth and territorial governance.
