Military authorities from Chad and the Central African Republic are stepping up efforts to bolster security along their shared border. A strategic meeting led by Brigadier General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor assessed recent joint operations and addressed emerging cross-border threats affecting vulnerable communities.

The gathering brought together key defense officials from both nations engaged in the Chad-CAR joint force, which plays a critical role in securing the porous frontier. Discussions centered on evaluating the outcomes of Operation Al-Hamamia 1 and Operation Al-Hamamia 2, while identifying persistent security challenges in high-risk border towns.

Participants also reviewed innovative measures to strengthen the presence of security forces in areas prone to illicit movements and militant activities. Brigadier General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, commander of the Chad-CAR joint force, endorsed a new operational plan proposed by the G5 Sahel cell: Operation Sentinelle.

This upcoming mission will deploy additional military units equipped with fixed and mobile surveillance posts. The initiative aims to:

  • Enhance detection of suspicious cross-border activities
  • Reduce response times for joint security interventions
  • Strengthen coordination between Chadian and Central African security agencies

According to General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, Operation Sentinelle represents a decisive step toward safeguarding border communities and tackling the region’s evolving security landscape more effectively.
