The Gabonese government is maintaining a dialogue with its historic partner, the Fonds monétaire international (FMI), as it prepares to implement a new economic cooperation framework.
According to the government, the talks are ongoing in a constructive and responsible manner.
Since the last spring meetings in April, the Gabonese side and the FMI teams have been holding regular video conferences, following a joint schedule that prioritizes technical work.
The minister of economy, finance, debt, and participation, Thierry Minko, met with the FMI’s Africa director and his team at the FMI headquarters in Washington on July 2, 2026.
The administration states that the dialogue is progressing according to a jointly agreed roadmap, which includes the law of finances rectificative 2026, the macroeconomic and budgetary framework for the period 2027-2029, data consolidation, and preparation for future dialogue steps with the FMI.
