Alfred Ikaka Bobe, the Director General of Gabon Poste, announced on Tuesday that his team has launched an application for postal savers whose funds remain frozen. The tool lets them check whether their names appear on the official lists compiled by the liquidator.
To verify their registration, users can access the dedicated online platform from a computer or smartphone.
The platform, which went live last Monday, became overloaded within hours after attracting roughly 10,000 visits.
“The application has been updated and will be fully functional starting Wednesday,” Alfred Ikaka Bobe stated.
Savers are asked to confirm that they are still alive. They may also specify the location where they prefer to receive their payout. The application also covers savers living abroad.
Only those savers who were properly registered by the liquidator but have unfortunately lost their passbook are requested to visit a post office to obtain a new one.
It is worth recalling that in 2017, PostBank SA, a subsidiary of the Poste, went bankrupt, jeopardising the savings of many individuals. After a series of unmet pledges by the ousted regime of Ali Bongo Ondimba, the transitional government expressed its commitment in February 2025 to settle this debt.
Approximately 60,000 savers are affected. A sum of 31.212 billion CFA francs has been pledged to clear the debt over three years, with one-third disbursed annually.
