In a candid exchange with the foreign ministry’s media analysis unit following his appointment in March 2024 and the presentation of his credentials to Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed on November 6, 2025, Gabon’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Pierre Ntsiet Ngolo, outlined his unwavering commitment to strengthening the Libreville-Tunis partnership. With the full backing of his team and headquarters, he pledged to prioritize both bilateral relations and the welfare of Gabonese nationals residing in Tunisia.
One of the diplomatic mission’s earliest initiatives focused on fostering unity within the Gabonese community. Mirroring the structure of other diaspora organizations worldwide, two new frameworks were established to enhance solidarity and dialogue among the approximately 1,000 Gabonese residents in Tunisia—including students, interns, professionals, and families.
Two pillars of Gabonese unity in Tunisia
The first is the Council of Gabonese in Tunisia (Conseil des Gabonais de Tunisie, CGT), which unites the entire community around core values of mutual aid, equity, and fraternity. The second is the Association of Gabonese Students and Interns in Tunisia (Association des Étudiants et Stagiaires Gabonais en Tunisie, AESGT), dedicated to supporting the academic and professional journeys of young Gabonese in the country.
«The cohesion and unity we’ve witnessed, particularly during the first Gabon Cultural Days held on April 24-25, demonstrate how our community can come together around shared values of solidarity,» Ambassador Ntsiet Ngolo remarked. These events underscored the community’s ability to organize and celebrate their heritage while addressing challenges collectively.
Strengthening academic and health cooperation
A key focus of the ambassador’s agenda is academic collaboration, given Tunisia’s appeal as a study destination for Gabonese youth. Many face administrative hurdles, including visa renewals complicated by delayed tuition payments. The ambassador urgently called on families and the Gabonese National Scholarship Agency to expedite financial support to prevent students from falling foul of Tunisia’s stringent immigration policies.
Healthcare cooperation also ranks high on the agenda. A bilateral agreement between Gabon’s National Health Insurance Fund (CNAMGS) and Tunisian medical evacuation providers capitalizes on Tunisia’s advanced healthcare infrastructure to ensure Gabonese citizens receive top-tier treatment when needed.
«Our mission goes beyond diplomacy—it’s about consolidating existing gains and forging new partnerships that align with both nations’ development ambitions,» Ntsiet Ngolo emphasized. «This means deepening institutional dialogue, prioritizing economic diplomacy, and exploring mutually beneficial sectors where Gabon and Tunisia can leverage their respective expertise for shared prosperity.»
Economic diplomacy at the forefront
The ambassador highlighted the importance of high-level economic missions, noting that Tunisian business delegations visiting Gabon signal promising opportunities. These initiatives are expected to culminate in investment agreements and strategic partnerships, fostering sustainable growth for both nations.
Since assuming his post, Ntsiet Ngolo has also prioritized consular assistance for Gabonese residents. «This call for unity has resonated deeply within the community, many of whom have long felt neglected,» he shared, underscoring the tangible impact of these efforts.
