Morocco’s foreign minister meeting boosts strategic ties with Bahrain and Jordan

Morocco’s top diplomat advances bilateral relations and regional security at a pivotal Arab League summit

The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, conducted high-level diplomatic exchanges in Amman with his counterparts from Bahrain and Jordan.

These meetings, held on the sidelines of the Arab League summit, served to reinforce bilateral alliances and address pressing regional security challenges.

Strengthening ties with Bahrain

During discussions with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the focus was on deepening historical ties between Rabat and Manama while exploring new avenues for collaboration in shared strategic sectors.

The session was attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to Jordan Fouad Akhrif, the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League Mohamed Aït Ouali, and the Director of Maghreb Affairs at the Moroccan Foreign Ministry Khalid Bencheikh.

Preparing the Morocco-Jordan High Joint Commission

Nasser Bourita also met with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to finalize preparations for the sixth session of the Morocco-Jordan High Joint Commission, scheduled for later this year. Both ministers emphasized the need to craft an ambitious agenda to elevate bilateral relations to a higher strategic level.

With both Jordan and Bahrain, Morocco’s top diplomat underscored the urgency of enhancing political consultation mechanisms to navigate today’s complex geopolitical landscape.

Active role in the Arab League

These bilateral meetings followed Bourita’s participation in the consultative session of Arab foreign ministers and the 165th regular session of the Arab League Council, reaffirming Morocco’s proactive role in regional multilateral dialogue.
