The National Police of Chad has disclosed the arrest of 29 suspected criminals in N’Djamena, following a series of coordinated operations in May and early June. The crackdown targeted individuals involved in a range of serious offenses, including arms trafficking and aggravated robbery.

Operation yields arrests across multiple crime categories

The sweeping operation, conducted between May 15 and June 1, was spearheaded by a multi-agency task force. According to police sources, the joint efforts of intelligence units, public security commissariats, central intelligence services, and the Ngueli border police station led to the apprehension of the suspects.

Among those detained, 29 individuals faced charges spanning a spectrum of criminal activities. The offenses included arms trafficking and complicity, criminal association, simple and aggravated theft, armed robberies, vehicle break-ins, and illegal entry of foreign nationals into the country.

Categorized by crime type for judicial processing

Following standard interrogation procedures, the suspects were grouped into four distinct categories based on the nature of their alleged crimes. The breakdown included cases related to criminal associations and armed robberies, motorcycle thefts with complicit involvement, theft of electronic devices, gold, textiles, and other valuables, as well as pickpocketing incidents. Several individuals were also detained in connection with vehicle burglaries, some of which occurred in the act.
