Ousmane Sonko’s political funds under scrutiny: Dr. Abdourahmane Diouf drops bombshell

Dr. Abdourahmane Diouf has ignited a political firestorm by revealing that Ousmane Sonko allegedly requested additional political funds after depleting his allocated budget, raising serious questions about the transparency of Senegal’s governance.
The verbal sparring between the Pastef party and the Kiiraay movement shows no signs of abating. Without an impartial referee to call a halt to the exchanges, both sides continue to fire salvos of claims and counterclaims, each asserting their version of events.
The latest salvo comes from Dr. Abdourahmane Diouf, who recently appeared on an RS1 program hosted by Migui Marième Ndiaye. The Minister of Petroleum and Energy revisited the controversial topic of the 1.77 billion CFA francs in secret funds held by Ousmane Sonko during his time as Prime Minister. But Diouf’s revelations didn’t stop there.
He disclosed that after exhausting the allocated political funds, Sonko allegedly sought an additional injection of resources. Yet critical questions linger: Was this request ever approved? And perhaps most importantly, where did this sensitive information originate? Officially, only two individuals had the authority to handle such classified data—the President of the Republic and the Minister of Budget.
