The PPA-CI, a political party led by former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo, has announced that several of its leaders and activists facing disciplinary actions will be barred from participating in its first ordinary congress, scheduled for May 14–15, 2026, in Abidjan.
According to an official statement, these individuals were disciplined for defying the party’s decision to abstain from the October 2025 presidential election and the December 27, 2025, legislative polls. The statement emphasized that, pending the outcomes of disciplinary proceedings, the following members are ineligible to attend the upcoming congress: Don Mello, Stéphane Kipré, Dali Arthur, and Armand Ouégnin.
The congress, set to take place at the Palais de la Culture in Abidjan, aims to strengthen party unity and reinvigorate grassroots support. However, internal divisions have surfaced following the initiation of disciplinary measures against high-ranking officials who disregarded Gbagbo’s directive to boycott recent electoral processes in Côte d’Ivoire.
