On 14 July, the French Embassy in Rabat hosted a grand reception to celebrate Bastille Day, drawing over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot took the opportunity to emphasize the deepening bilateral partnership between France and the Kingdom of Morocco.
«Across Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française—our focus isn’t just on envisioning the future; it’s about actively building it, day by day,» Lalliot stated. The event was attended by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the government.
During his speech, the ambassador highlighted the broad spectrum of cooperation between the two nations, referencing France’s 2024 recognition—expressed in a letter from President Emmanuel Macron to King Mohammed VI—of the Moroccan Sahara’s sovereignty. «French and Moroccan diplomacy work hand in hand to uphold the core principles of the international order and multilateral organizations,» he affirmed.
Lalliot also underscored France’s status as the top foreign investor and employer in Morocco, noting how French enterprises have been pivotal in driving Morocco’s industrial growth for over a decade. Looking ahead, he outlined key priorities for the partnership: «addressing global challenges collectively, reinforcing security, aligning on tomorrow’s economic sectors, and nurturing friendship and mutual understanding—especially among our youth, who represent the future of this vital relationship.»
The ambassador concluded by celebrating the «unbreakable human bond» between the peoples of France and Morocco, a connection further strengthened by the dynamic contributions of their diasporas.
