Tchad and Central African Republic unite to secure shared borders
Senior military officials from Tchad and the Central African Republic recently gathered to reinforce joint efforts aimed at stabilizing border regions plagued by cross-border threats. A high-level working session, led by Brigadier General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, commander of the Tchad-Central African Republic joint force, focused on reviewing the outcomes of recent field operations and addressing emerging security concerns.
Reviewing joint operations and future strategies
The meeting brought together key military leaders from both nations who are actively involved in securing the shared border. Discussions centered on evaluating the results of Operation Al-Hamamia 1 and Operation Al-Hamamia 2, which have been instrumental in curbing illicit activities in vulnerable zones.
Participants also explored innovative approaches to enhance the deployment of defense and security forces in high-risk areas, ensuring a more robust response to transnational threats. A critical part of the agenda included the approval of a new operational plan proposed by the G5 Sahel cell, which outlines the framework for the upcoming Operation Sentinelle.
A strategic shift toward proactive border protection
The approved plan outlines the deployment of specialized military units supported by both fixed and mobile surveillance posts. The initiative is designed to heighten monitoring of suspicious movements, accelerate joint response times, and foster deeper security collaboration between Tchad and the Central African Republic.
According to the force commander, this coordinated effort aims to safeguard communities living along the border and ensure a more effective response to evolving security challenges in this pivotal region.
