On May 12, 2026, Faure Gnassingbé, President of Togo, traveled to Kampala, Uganda, to attend the inauguration ceremony of Yoweri Museveni, who secured re-election in the January 15 general elections. The event, themed “Safeguarding achievements and advancing toward upper-middle-income status,” brought together African heads of state alongside delegations from Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

During the visit, Faure Gnassingbé extended his congratulations to Yoweri Museveni, expressing wishes for success in his new term. In response, Museveni praised Gnassingbé’s presence, highlighting it as a testament to the strong cooperative ties between Lomé and Kampala.
