Following a strategic cabinet meeting led by President Patrice Talon, four cutting-edge industrial ventures have secured approval under Benin’s Investment Code, marking a pivotal step toward reshaping the nation’s economic landscape. These projects span water production, chemical manufacturing, and agro-industrial processing, signaling a bold shift toward self-sufficiency and regional industrial leadership.

strategic industrial expansion across four high-potential sectors

The government’s decision reflects a deliberate strategy to diversify Benin’s production base and strengthen local value chains. Each selected project aligns with a specific industrial zone and regulatory framework under the Investment Code:

  • EAU TECHNOLOGIE ENVIRONNEMENT SA will establish a mineral water production facility in the Gakpé industrial zone, leveraging tax incentives to meet rising domestic demand and reduce reliance on imports.
  • SOCIÉTÉ BÉNINO-TUNISIENNE DE COMMERCE SARL is set to launch a paint manufacturing plant in Sèmè-Podji—Benin’s key trade gateway—boosting the construction sector with locally produced materials.
  • BNS AGRI INDUSTRIE SARL will process soybeans into crude oil and animal feed in Azonsa, enhancing food security and supporting Benin’s agricultural exports.
  • LIBS BENIN SARL will operate a dual-purpose plant in Allada, producing both bottled mineral water and canned beer, tapping into fast-growing consumer markets.

driving economic transformation through job creation and local production

The approval of these ventures underscores Benin’s commitment to transitioning from an import-dependent economy to a competitive made-in-Benin production hub. Beyond financial gains, the projects are expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment, particularly benefiting young workers and rural communities.

By offering preferential fiscal and customs incentives—such as tax exemptions and streamlined administrative procedures—the government aims to attract sustainable investment, foster industrial clusters, and position Benin as a dynamic player in West Africa’s industrial value chains.
