During a high-level meeting in Rabat, Côte d’Ivoire’s Foreign Minister Kacou Adom reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to supporting Morocco’s royal initiatives aimed at accelerating Africa’s development.
Speaking after talks with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita, Minister Adom stated, « Côte d’Ivoire stands firmly behind these initiatives and will work alongside Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in alignment with His Majesty the King’s vision. »*
The Ivorian diplomat also highlighted the dynamic role of Moroccan private sector investments in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth, noting that « Moroccan businesses are playing a pivotal role in building our nation’s infrastructure and strengthening its economy. »*
Both ministers agreed to reconvene soon to assess progress within the Economic Impetus Group, aiming to enhance its efficiency and expand its impact. On the regional front, Morocco expressed deep gratitude for Côte d’Ivoire’s consistent stance on the Moroccan Sahara issue, a cause of vital importance to the Kingdom.
Nasser Bourita remarked, « Côte d’Ivoire has long been a steadfast ally of Morocco on this existential matter, a position warmly welcomed by His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and all national stakeholders. »*
He further emphasized Côte d’Ivoire’s significance as a key bilateral partner for Morocco, describing it as « a leading African partner whose contributions are crucial to royal initiatives, including the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project towards Europe—a project His Majesty holds in high regard. »*
The pipeline, he confirmed, is advancing toward realization, following the endorsement of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) leaders of the intergovernmental agreement establishing it.
This summit in Rabat underscores the robust and multifaceted partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco, built on shared political vision, economic synergy, and regional collaboration. As both nations reaffirm their dedication to Morocco’s Sahara sovereignty, joint economic ventures, and pan-African projects, Abidjan solidifies its role as one of Morocco’s most trusted partners on the continent.
