Morocco and France elevate economic ties with €15 billion trade milestone

French Minister of Foreign Trade Nicolas Forissier highlights the transformative power of bilateral relations at Paris economic forum.

Moroccan and French flags symbolizing economic partnership

During a high-level gathering of nearly 300 business leaders, investors and policymakers in Paris, French Minister of Foreign Trade Nicolas Forissier presented a compelling vision of Morocco-France economic relations as a beacon for continental cooperation. The event, organized by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Moroccan Embassy in France, served as a platform to showcase the remarkable growth in bilateral trade.

Bilateral trade achieves unprecedented €15 billion milestone

The minister revealed that two-way trade between Morocco and France surpassed €15 billion in 2025—a historic achievement that represents a doubling of exchange volumes within a decade. This surge in commercial activity underscores the deepening economic integration between the two nations, driven by shared strategic objectives and complementary economic models.

Forissier emphasized that this economic momentum is built on more than just transactional relationships. « The Morocco-France partnership demonstrates how international trade, when structured fairly, can unlock sustainable development opportunities for both nations and future generations, » he stated during his address.

Industrial synergy and investment flows drive mutual growth

The minister highlighted several key sectors where the partnership is yielding tangible results. France’s continued investment in Morocco’s industrial expansion—particularly in aerospace manufacturing—was singled out as a prime example. The recent €600 million commitment by aerospace giant Safran to establish a new facility in Casablanca exemplifies this trend, creating high-value employment while reinforcing Morocco’s position as an industrial hub.

Conversely, Moroccan companies have become increasingly active in the French market, establishing themselves as the top African investors in France. This two-way investment flow creates a virtuous cycle of economic benefits, with each nation leveraging its comparative advantages to enhance the other’s competitiveness.

Beyond commerce: Building human capital and future partnerships

Forissier stressed that the bilateral relationship extends far beyond mere commercial transactions. « The future of our partnership lies in investing in people, » he asserted. Priority areas include skills development, academic exchanges and youth mobility programs designed to nurture the next generation of business leaders who will sustain the economic momentum.

The minister also pointed to the recently established Enhanced Exceptional Partnership framework—agreed during President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco in October 2024—as the foundation for an ambitious new economic agenda. This framework aims to deepen cooperation in innovation, digital transformation and sustainable development, ensuring that the partnership remains resilient in an era of global uncertainty.

« In a world facing multiple crises, » Forissier concluded, « Morocco and France are demonstrating how strong, balanced partnerships can create stability and secure supply chains while opening new opportunities for businesses on both sides of the Mediterranean. »

The Paris economic forum served as a testament to this evolving relationship, bringing together key institutions including the Moroccan Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AMDIE), the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco (CFCIM) and Business France to strengthen business ties between the two nations.
