The summer transfer window is well underway, and Olympique de Marseille is making headlines. Under pressure from UEFA to balance the books, the club must sell key players to avoid European competition bans. While Mason Greenwood’s future dominates discussions, another star could be heading for the exit.

After a disastrous season, no one at Marseille is safe. Missing out on Champions League qualification already forced the club to tighten its belt, but UEFA’s recent warning has turned the need into an emergency. New sporting director Grégory Lorenzi is working on multiple fronts to navigate this critical summer.

Greenwood could leave OM

The first major case is Mason Greenwood. The 24-year-old winger, Marseille’s top scorer over the past two seasons, appears close to an exit. Fenerbahçe and especially AS Roma are keen on signing him. Italian media report advanced talks with Roma, though a recent chill has set in: OM reportedly disapproved of Roma’s approach, claiming they contacted the player without informing the club first.

Højbjerg also on his way?

While the Greenwood saga stalls, another deal could accelerate. According to sources, Atalanta wants to convince Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to leave Marseille. He is even the priority target for their new sporting director, who previously tried to sign him for Juventus. The door is not closed; in fact, OM has reportedly agreed to let the Danish international leave, setting a minimum price of €10 million.
