Morocco joins international stabilization force in Gaza with humanitarian and security commitment
The Kingdom of Morocco has officially signed the framework agreement for its participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, as directed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), and Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee. The signing ceremony took place in Rabat under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Minister Delegate for National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi, in the presence of Morocco’s top military leadership.
The agreement was formalized during a high-level meeting with a delegation led by Nickolay Mladenov, the UN Special Coordinator for Gaza, underscoring the Kingdom’s proactive role in regional stability efforts.
Humanitarian and security-driven engagement
According to a statement from the National Defense Administration, this milestone reinforces Morocco’s founding membership in the Gaza Peace Council, aligning with the Royal directives announced during the council’s inaugural meeting in Washington. The authorities emphasized that this participation embodies Morocco’s unwavering commitment to international peace, cooperation, and solidarity.
The Kingdom’s long-standing contributions to UN peacekeeping operations, coupled with its dedication to regional and global stability, were highlighted as key factors in this decision.
Representatives of the Gaza Peace Council commended Morocco’s involvement, noting plans to deploy senior FAR officers within the ISF joint command, include personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), and establish a mobile military field hospital.
The signed agreement establishes the legal and operational framework for Morocco’s engagement, reflecting a shared resolve to restore peace and security in Gaza through humanitarian and security initiatives.
