In a strategic move to strengthen its Moroccan network, Uber has officially launched its services in Tanger and Agadir. This expansion is designed to support the country’s booming tourism industry and follows the successful establishment of ride-hailing options in Casablanca and Rabat.
Enhancing mobility for international visitors
As Maroc prepares to host the 2030 World Cup, the nation is working toward an ambitious goal of attracting 26 million annual visitors. Uber aims to play a pivotal role in this growth by providing a dependable and convenient transportation solution. The service focuses on improving the overall travel experience, ensuring that tourists can move seamlessly from their hotels to various points of interest across these coastal cities.
Available ride options in Agadir and Tanger
To meet the rising demand for transport, the platform now allows users in both Agadir and Tanger to book rides directly through their mobile application. Travelers can select between the UberX and UberXL service tiers, mirroring the current offerings in the kingdom’s largest urban centers.
The timing of this launch coincides with a period of significant growth for the Maroc tourism sector, a vital part of the African economy today. In 2025, the country welcomed a record 19.8 million tourists, representing a 14% increase from the previous year. This surge generated approximately 124 billion dirhams in revenue by November. The momentum has carried into 2026, with 4.3 million visitors recorded in the first quarter alone, marking a 7% rise compared to the same period last year.
