Mali terror attacks spark strong UN security council condemnation

The United Nations Security Council has issued a scathing condemnation of the recent wave of terrorist attacks that rocked Mali, labeling them as “heinous and cowardly” assaults that threaten both regional and international peace.

In a sharply worded statement released on Friday, the 15 members of the Security Council condemned the violent terror strikes that struck multiple areas of Mali on 25 April and again on 6 May. These coordinated attacks resulted in significant casualties, leaving families devastated and communities in shock.

Justice for victims remains a top priority, declared council members, who emphasized the urgent need to bring to account every individual involved in planning, funding, or executing these barbaric assaults—from masterminds to foot soldiers.

Reaffirming that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is criminal and wholly inexcusable, the Council underscored the universal obligation of all nations to confront this scourge through every available legal and strategic means.
