Niamey, July 27, 2026 – High-level consultations among leaders of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) unfolded alongside the third anniversary celebrations of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) in Niger. Today, General Mohamed Toumba, Niger’s Minister of State for Interior, Public Security, and Territorial Administration, received Bassolma Bazié, President of Burkina Faso’s AES National Commission, for a working meeting.
During his visit to Niger to attend the commemorative events, Bazié paid a courtesy call at the Interior Ministry, where both officials discussed pressing priorities for the AES Confederation. The talks centered on reinforcing collective security strategies and deepening institutional collaboration among member states.
Advancing security cooperation within the AES Confederation
Bazié commended Niger’s proactive measures in safeguarding its population and bolstering regional stability. The discussions underscored the shared commitment of AES member states to enhance security coordination, recognizing it as a critical pillar for addressing transnational threats and ensuring sustainable peace across the Sahel.
