Bénin’s President, Romuald Wadagni, arrived in Ouagadougou on Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2026, commencing an important friendship and working visit to Burkina Faso.

Upon his arrival at Ouagadougou International Airport, he received a warm welcome from Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The two West African leaders then stood together as their respective national anthems were played, followed by a ceremonial review of military honors.

Following the official reception ceremony, the Burkinabè and Béninois presidents immediately engaged in a private, one-on-one discussion within the airport’s VIP lounge, setting the tone for their collaborative agenda.

The two leaders subsequently proceeded to the Koulouba Presidential Palace, where further comprehensive working sessions are scheduled to take place, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and regional African politics.
