Cameroonian Tech Student Wins Prestigious African Academic Award in Paris
In a grand ceremony attended by leading scientists, cultural figures, and diplomats, Brayan Yebga Miyogog, an alumnus of the African Institute of Computer Science (IAI-Cameroon) / Paul Biya Center of Technological Excellence, was awarded the African Student Excellence Prize (PEEA) on June 27, 2026, in Paris, France.
The prestigious accolade honors his academic brilliance, unwavering resilience, and ethical commitment to leadership with a tangible impact on Africa’s global presence. This recognition shines a spotlight on the high-caliber training provided at IAI-Cameroon, which is managed by the resident representative Armand Claude Abanda, who also holds the UNESCO Chair for Central Africa on Access to ICTs.
The award ceremony celebrated Brayan’s silver medal win, which celebrates the tenacity, dedication, and scholarly achievements of African students across the continent and its diaspora. The young laureate acknowledged that his success stems from the rigor, discipline, and perseverance instilled in him during his time at the Paul Biya Center of Technological Excellence. In his acceptance remarks, he emphasized his pride in representing IAI-Cameroon, stating, “On the big day, I will proudly wear the colors of IAI. My speech will honor the institution’s legacy and the quality of training I received—it’s an honor to stand before this audience.”
Just weeks before this triumph, Brayan and his team also clinched the Public TechforTech Prize at the 2026 Petit Poucet competition for their innovative #AgriGuardian platform, which he co-founded. Currently based in Montpellier, France, Brayan works as a junior systems architect and trainer specializing in networks, cybersecurity, and digital technologies, where he combines advanced expertise in computer science, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
