Abidjan is set to host the official launch of the 2026-2027 coffee-cocoa campaign on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This significant event coincides with the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC), taking place at the Abidjan Exhibition Park, where crucial farmgate prices will be unveiled.
The eagerly awaited new prices are scheduled to be announced by Vice-President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, acting on behalf of the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara.
Reflecting on previous periods, the main campaign for 2025-2026, which spanned from October 2025 to February 2026, saw a record farmgate price of 2,800 FCFA per kilogram. However, the subsequent intermediate campaign, running from March to August 2026, experienced a reduction, with prices set at 1,200 FCFA per kilogram. This adjustment was necessitated by a downturn in international cocoa market prices.
Côte d’Ivoire firmly maintains its position as the world’s foremost cocoa producer, contributing an estimated 40% to the global supply, a testament to its pivotal role in the global African economy today.
National production for the 2025-2026 campaign reached approximately 2.2 million tonnes. This period was characterized by considerable volatility in export markets and the government’s intervention to purchase around 123,000 tonnes of residual beans amidst a temporary slowdown in global trade.
Looking ahead to the 2026-2027 campaign, production forecasts indicate potential challenges. Climatic constraints and the increasing age of cocoa plantations could impact yields. Some market projections suggest a possible decline in Ivorian production, potentially falling to around 1.8 million tonnes.
