Democratic Republic of Congo begins recruitment for census mapping ahead of 2027 population count

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has officially launched the recruitment of agents to conduct preliminary census mapping, marking a critical step toward the country’s first nationwide population count in over four decades. The actual enumeration phase is scheduled to commence in July 2027.

Guylain Nyembo Mbwizya, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and Coordination for Development Aid, announced the initiative during a June 1 press conference in Kinshasa. He emphasized that the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH-2) will provide essential, updated demographic data critical for national development planning.
