key points The disciplinary committee of France’s top football league is set to rule on the abandoned match between Nantes and Toulouse. Here’s what to expect.

The chaotic scenes that forced the premature end of Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash between Nantes and Toulouse have set the stage for potential sanctions. The match, halted in the 22nd minute and later abandoned, saw dozens of Nantes supporters storm the pitch at Stade de la Beaujoire.

The LFP’s disciplinary committee has since taken the case under review and confirmed it will deliver its verdict on Wednesday, May 27, 2026—later than initially anticipated. With the season concluded and players either on vacation or with national teams, there will be no replay. Instead, the LFP is expected to award Toulouse a 3-0 technical victory, though a 0-0 score at the time of abandonment remains a possibility. Either outcome would leave Toulouse in ninth place for the season.

For Nantes, who are relegated to Ligue 2, the fallout could be severe. The club faces likely sanctions including partial or full closure of the Loire stand—from which the pitch invasion originated—and possible point deductions. While no injuries were reported, the FC Nantes administration will argue this to mitigate penalties.
