In his latest Monday reflection published on June 29, 2026, Maurice Kamto, national leader of Cameroon’s Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), issues a powerful call for resilience and hope amid political adversity.

As has been his custom for over a year, the opposition figure releases a weekly thought piece every Monday, addressing fundamental issues facing the nation.

“We now face a stark choice: either strangle our future or accept eternal submission,” Kamto writes. “We must stand on the one remaining leg, the one arm that still moves, the one eye that refuses to close—because it sees the future where others see only emptiness. I will not abandon my faith in the triumph of reason. I will not. Beneath the chaos, the primal instincts, the irrationality, and the hatred lies the light of conscience that guides nations forward. This is what will save Cameroon. This is what will restore Africa.”

According to Kamto, “the nation’s recovery is not just a priority but a symbol of the continent’s renaissance.”
