Abidjan – The Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire – African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA) has unequivocally reaffirmed its consistent position regarding the establishment of an inclusive electoral body. Brédoumy Soumaïla, the party’s spokesperson, emphasized this unwavering stance, asserting that any such formation must emerge from direct political dialogue among principal stakeholders, rather than a mere informational gathering.

“The PDCI-RDA formally approached the government, requesting the prompt initiation of this crucial dialogue. Our recent history clearly demonstrates that enduring peace and social cohesion cannot be achieved without genuine consultation,” stated Mr. Soumaïla during a press briefing held at the Party Headquarters.

He expressed regret over the Head of Government’s invitation to political parties for an “information meeting without substantive exchange,” deeming this approach inadequate. The party intends to reiterate its call for a broad negotiation framework “whenever necessary,” underscoring its commitment to meaningful discussions concerning African politics in Côte d’Ivoire.

Furthermore, the PDCI-RDA strongly advocates for the comprehensive revision of the electoral list before the close of 2026, in strict adherence to the existing Electoral Code. Mr. Brédoumy highlighted the failure to conduct the scheduled 2025 revision, which was notably funded through the state budget, yet lacked any official justification for its omission. “The government must provide accountability to Ivorian taxpayers regarding the management of these allocated funds,” he insisted, a key concern for West Africa news observers.

“The populace is seeking the PDCI-RDA’s intervention. This assistance will materialize through President Cheick Tidjane Thiam, aiming to reclaim state power to foster progress for all citizens and ensure collective prosperity,” the spokesperson concluded, outlining the party’s vision for Côte d’Ivoire’s future.
