In a heartfelt tribute, Ousmane Sonko, President of the National Assembly of Senegal, has conveyed his deepest condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo.

The announcement, made on a social platform, underscored the profound loss felt across the nation. Sonko expressed his sorrow in a poignant message, paying homage to the spiritual leader’s legacy and extending his sympathies to the bereaved family, the Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the people of Senegal.

« I was deeply moved and saddened to learn of the departure of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the esteemed Khalife of Guinguinéo’s Khassim Mbacké family, » Sonko wrote. « His warmth, kindness, and unwavering hospitality during my visits to the region left an indelible mark on me. »

The National Assembly leader recalled multiple encounters with the late religious figure, each one marked by respect and mutual affection. These moments, he noted, were defined by the spiritual guide’s generosity and the strong bonds he fostered within the community.

In this time of mourning, Sonko offered his « most sincere condolences » to the deceased’s family, the Mouride leadership, the residents of Guinguinéo, and the entire nation. « May God, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise, » he concluded.
