The Assemblée Parlementaire Francophone (APF) General Assembly commenced its impressive opening session on July 9th in Yaoundé, Cameroon. This significant gathering drew a distinguished array of attendees, including the President of the Cameroonian Senate, the President of the Cameroonian National Assembly, and the President of the Cameroonian Economic and Social Council. Elevating the prominence of the occasion was Louise Mushikiwabo, the Secretary-General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), alongside numerous other esteemed guests. The conference saw participation from over 350 delegates, a robust representation that featured nearly twenty presidents and vice-presidents from APF member parliaments, delegates from the OIF, various diplomatic missions, and international organizations, highlighting broad engagement in this pan-African and global forum.

The 51st General Assembly’s agenda was meticulously designed to address critical issues spanning politics, democratic governance, economic development, social welfare, cultural exchange, and environmental sustainability. Through these comprehensive discussions, the assembly aimed to fortify parliamentary collaboration and devise collective solutions for the shared challenges confronting the diverse Francophone Community. This focus underscores a commitment to fostering robust international relations and contributing to stability and progress across West Africa and beyond.
