The United States and Benin have once again affirmed their crucial strategic defense alliance. General Christopher J. Mahoney, who serves as the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the United States, recently held discussions at the Pentagon with Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, the esteemed Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Benin.

Central to their dialogue were various joint security initiatives and the ongoing military assistance provided by Washington, notably facilitated through the United States Africa Command (Africom).

Both high-ranking officials underscored the indispensable role a stable, secure, and democratic Benin plays in fostering broader regional peace. They committed to enhancing their military collaboration and working closely with other regional partners to effectively counter transnational threats, thereby ensuring enduring stability across West Africa.
