Legal framework and international commitments

Human trafficking remains a severe violation of human rights, often involving sexual exploitation and forced labor. As a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, Chad has implemented robust legislation to tackle this issue, including Ordinance No. 006/PR/2018 and Law No. 12/PR/2018.

Coordinated action and accountability

Under the new directives, authorities are mandated to conduct prompt investigations, compile detailed reports, and ensure cases are promptly transferred to competent courts. Additionally, all documented cases must be referred to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Commission to Combat Human Trafficking for rigorous follow-up.

Provincial delegates have been tasked with overseeing strict adherence to these guidelines, aiming to establish a national database. This initiative is designed to inform more effective policies and strategies in Chad’s ongoing battle against human trafficking.
