Côte d’Ivoire has successfully secured an extraordinary 47,820 billion FCFA, equivalent to 80 billion US dollars, to propel its National Development Plan (PND) spanning 2026-2030. This monumental achievement, confirmed during a recent consultative group meeting, has been warmly received by President Alassane Ouattara, who expressed immense satisfaction with the outcome. Notably, the funding secured is approximately four times the amount initially targeted from the private sector, underscoring a robust show of confidence in the nation’s economic trajectory.

President Ouattara highlighted that this significant financial commitment is a clear indicator of the international community’s profound trust in Côte d’Ivoire and its promising future development prospects. He reiterated the State’s unwavering dedication to translating these financial pledges into tangible advancements, focusing on enhancing the country’s infrastructure and expanding economic opportunities for all citizens. This commitment is vital for the nation’s sustained growth and stability within West Africa.

The PND 2026-2030 outlines six pivotal areas of focus: fostering peace and security, advancing agricultural productivity, stimulating private sector expansion, investing in human capital, upgrading critical infrastructure, and upholding good governance. The overarching goal is to elevate Côte d’Ivoire to an upper-middle-income economy by the year 2030. This ambitious vision includes achieving a GDP per capita of 4,500 US dollars and drastically reducing the national poverty rate to below 20%, marking a significant step in African economic development.

The successful consultative group meeting, a key event for Côte d’Ivoire development funding, drew over 2,000 investors from 49 countries. These participants, representing a diverse array of financial institutions and enterprises, convened in Abidjan to deliberate and contribute to the financing of the ambitious PND, showcasing global interest in the country’s potential.
