Côte d’Ivoire’s economic future hinges on private sector engagement
The second day of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 Consultative Group, dedicated exclusively to investors, kicked off on July 9, 2026, at the Abidjan Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire. Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé led the session, emphasizing the critical role of private investment in turning the country’s ambitious development vision into reality.
« Today marks another milestone in our collective effort to harness investment, entrepreneurship, and value creation as key drivers of sustainable growth, » declared the Prime Minister. « We are thrilled to welcome over 700 investors from friendly nations who have joined us to explore opportunities in Côte d’Ivoire’s thriving economy. »
The high-profile gathering drew top business leaders, corporate executives, and private sector representatives from across the globe. In his address, the Prime Minister framed the event as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, reinforcing a shared commitment to Côte d’Ivoire’s economic transformation.
« Your presence here today is a testament to the confidence you place in our nation’s economic trajectory and its immense growth potential, » he told the assembled investors. « Your investments will be instrumental in building a more competitive, job-rich economy that benefits all Ivorians. »
Private sector as the engine of economic transformation
The government has made a strategic decision to position the private sector as the cornerstone of Côte d’Ivoire’s economic evolution. The Prime Minister underscored the country’s proven resilience and adaptability, citing an average annual growth rate of 6.5% over recent years—a performance that has solidified Côte d’Ivoire’s status as one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies.
« This is a market brimming with potential, » he stated. « Today’s discussions will focus on accelerating investments in the priority sectors outlined in the PND 2026-2030—industrialization, local processing of raw materials, infrastructure development, digital innovation, logistics, human capital investment, and productivity-enhancing services. »
The Prime Minister highlighted that the first day of the Consultative Group, which focused on institutional partners and the presentation of Côte d’Ivoire’s development strategy, attracted over 3,000 participants from 49 countries, including Côte d’Ivoire itself.
Investors pledge robust financial commitments
Speaking on behalf of the private sector, leaders from Côte d’Ivoire’s General Confederation of Enterprises (CGECI), the French Business Movement (MEDEF), Morocco’s General Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) reaffirmed their strong confidence in the Ivorian government’s vision. They expressed readiness to play an active role in implementing the PND 2026-2030 through substantial financial commitments.
The Prime Minister’s remarks and the pledges made by investors signal a renewed momentum in Côte d’Ivoire’s quest to become a leading economic hub in West Africa, driven by innovation, infrastructure, and inclusive growth.
