Gabon has a new figure at the helm of its railway regulatory authority. Ludovic Megne Ndong has officially assumed his duties as President of the Autorité de Régulation des Transports Ferroviaires (ARTF), following a handover ceremony held in Owendo. He takes over from François Banga Eboumi in a carefully orchestrated transition.
The appointment marks a fresh chapter for the ARTF, an institution now tasked with steering the sector through a wave of strategic reforms. Megne Ndong arrives with a clear mandate to implement the recently defined operational guidelines for the authority. His leadership priorities include enforcing the new ordinance that reshapes the ARTF’s internal structure and operational protocols.
The newly appointed leader has also underscored his commitment to fostering closer collaboration with social partners and institutional staff. His vision centers on enhancing governance efficiency and elevating working conditions within the authority. Key initiatives on his agenda include restructuring the oversight teams and reinstating inspection activities along the Transgabonais railway corridor, which links Owendo to Franceville.
The handover event was attended by government officials, including François Ndong Obiang, Minister of Reform and Relations with Institutions, and Adrien Moukabi, Executive Secretary of the ARTF. Their presence highlighted the government’s endorsement of the reforms unfolding in Gabon’s railway sector.
